Maple Finance has announced plans to terminate staking rewards for its SYRUP token and initiate a buyback program aimed at enhancing long-term value. The DeFi lending platform, which has expanded its active loan book to $2.1 billion, stated that revenue distribution through staking is unsustainable. Under the new proposal, 25% of protocol revenue will be allocated to the Syrup Strategic Fund (SSF) for buybacks and liquidity.
Maple Finance reported generating over $1 million in average monthly revenue during the second half of 2025, with September alone contributing $1.5 million. The proposal is open for voting until October 31, and if approved, revenue sharing with stSYRUP holders will cease by November.
