The Korea Customs Service has revealed that illegal money laundering activities over the past five years have totaled 11.4 trillion won ($8.5 billion), with 83% of these transactions conducted through cryptocurrency assets. A recent crackdown led to the arrest of a group using stablecoins, such as USDT, to transfer 920 billion won illicitly. Additionally, foreign currency smuggling has surged, reaching 240 billion won in the same period. In response, the Customs Service has established a 126-member team to enhance inspections and combat these illicit financial activities.
