Hyundai Card and Hyundai Motor have successfully completed a stablecoin-based cross-border remittance proof-of-concept between their U.S. and Mexico business units. The test involved converting $20,000 into USDT, transferring it to Mexico, and converting it back to U.S. dollars, all within an average of 7 minutes. This is significantly faster than traditional interbank remittances, which can take 3-4 hours or more.
The project included collaboration with Tether, Avalanche, and Axiym, and plans are underway for a second round of testing in Europe by the end of the month. This next phase will involve remittances in non-dollar currencies, with participation from Circle and Visa. Hyundai Card aims to leverage this technology for global settlements and fund transfers within Hyundai Motor Group.
