Hut 8 has emerged as the winning bidder for two Texas data center sites owned by bankrupt crypto miner Poolin with a $140 million offer. The bid, comprising cash and other consideration, covers Poolin's Pyote and Tarbush facilities and remains subject to approval by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey at a sale hearing scheduled for September 29. Poolin and two U.S. affiliates filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July after ceasing mining and hosting operations at the Texas sites. Court documents indicate the company holds approximately $173.1 million in total debts, including roughly $163.7 million in unsecured debt owed to Poolin Wallet users following a withdrawal freeze in 2022.
