Ghana's central bank governor, Johnson Asiama, announced at an IMF meeting that the country plans to implement a cryptocurrency regulatory framework by the end of the year. Asiama stated that the bill has been submitted to parliament and is expected to be enacted by December, enabling Ghana to formally regulate cryptocurrencies. The central bank had released a draft of the legislation in August 2024. Currently, approximately 3 million people, nearly 9% of Ghana's population, are using cryptocurrencies.
