Gate.com has announced that its subsidiary, Gate Technology Ltd., has received a Payment Institution (PI) license from the Malta Financial Services Authority under the EU's Payment Services Directive, Version 2 (PSD2). This makes Gate one of the few crypto-native firms in Europe to achieve such regulatory approval, paving the way for compliant stablecoin and payment services across the EU.
Giovanni Cunti, CEO of Gate Technology Ltd., highlighted that the license will enable the company to create a secure bridge between traditional finance and Web3, offering regulatory protection for both institutional and retail users. This development follows Gate's acquisition of a full MiCA license for exchange and custody services, further expanding its payment services across the EU. The move underscores Gate's commitment to compliance and innovation in the European digital asset financial infrastructure sector.
