The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association has expressed support for the U.S. "Clarity Act," urging the Senate Banking Committee to enhance provisions related to decentralized finance (DeFi) accountability. In a letter dated July 10, the association advocated for revisions to strengthen responsibility attribution in DeFi systems and prevent enterprises from exploiting decentralization to evade regulation. This endorsement follows support from the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, countering claims that the bill could hinder efforts to combat crypto crime. The association also recommended narrowing the scope of DeFi protections and amending the "specific intent" language to better identify responsibility, while ensuring the bill does not restrict existing federal investigative powers. Previously, four law enforcement organizations had raised concerns about Section 604 of the bill in a letter to the White House in June.
