The European Commission has mandated that social media platform X retain all internal documents and data related to its chatbot "Grok" until the end of 2026. This decision, announced by spokesperson Thomas Renier, follows reports of users generating and disseminating fake sexually explicit content using "Grok," affecting both adults and minors. The chatbot, developed by Elon Musk's xAI, is integrated into the platform X. The Commission's order extends a previous data retention requirement, which focused on the platform's algorithm and illegal content dissemination, now including all data related to "Grok." In response to the controversy, platform X has committed to removing illegal content, banning offending accounts, and cooperating with authorities.
