The European Commission has adopted a delegated act proposing to extend the Central Contact Point (CCP) framework to crypto-asset service providers (CASPs). Under the proposal, regulators in EU member states could require crypto exchanges and other CASPs operating locally to appoint a domestic contact person.
The framework previously applied only to electronic money institutions and payment institutions. Its expansion would bring CASPs into the anti-money-laundering and compliance oversight network, giving regulators a fixed in-country contact for information sharing and enforcement coordination.
