The European Commission has issued formal infringement notices to 13 EU member states for failing to comply with crypto tax transparency and MiCA regulations. Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, and Portugal have been called out for not fully transposing the Directive on administrative cooperation, which mandates tax transparency and information exchange on crypto-assets. These states have two months to address the issue. Additionally, Hungary faces an infringement procedure for its Act LXVII of 2025, which conflicts with the Regulation on markets in crypto-assets (MiCA) by introducing an authorization regime for exchange validation services. Hungary also has two months to resolve the Commission's concerns or risk further action under EU infringement procedures.
