The Ethereum Community Foundation has called for an end to the practice of truncating Ethereum addresses, following a significant phishing attack involving 50 million USDT. In a statement on the X platform, the foundation emphasized the need for full address visibility, warning that hiding parts of addresses with ellipses increases phishing risks. The attack exploited this vulnerability by creating a deceptive address with matching first and last digits, leading a victim to mistakenly transfer funds to the wrong address. The foundation also highlighted existing security flaws in some wallet and block explorer interfaces, urging immediate solutions.
