The Ethereum Foundation has released a comprehensive roadmap, termed the "strawmap," detailing potential developments for Ethereum through 2029. This plan aims to enhance transaction speed and network capacity, marking the most significant evolution since Ethereum's transition to proof-of-stake in 2022. Key goals include achieving 10,000 transactions per second on Layer 1 and scaling Layer 2 networks to 10 million transactions per second. The roadmap also proposes introducing post-quantum cryptography and native privacy features. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin emphasized the roadmap's importance, describing it as a gradual overhaul of Ethereum's core systems. The plan includes around seven forks and is structured around five "north stars," focusing on speed, capacity, and security improvements. Following the announcement, Ether (ETH) saw a brief price increase, trading at $2,030, reflecting a 4% weekly gain despite a 2% daily decline.
