The Ethereum Foundation has released a statement detailing its vision for the future of Layer 1 (L1) and Layer 2 (L2) ecosystems. According to the foundation, L1 will continue to serve as a global settlement and DeFi hub, while L2's role is evolving from mere scalability to offering differentiated and customized services. The foundation recommends that L2 solutions meet at least Stage 1 security standards and encourages progress towards Stage 2, synchronous composability, and "native Rollup" development. Additionally, the Ethereum Foundation has pledged to further expand L1 and Blob, which is currently operating at about 30% capacity. The foundation also aims to address the fragmentation of cross-chain experiences caused by the multi-chain ecosystem.
