The Ethereum Foundation has released its Protocol Cluster update for May 2026, highlighting significant progress in the testing and preparation for the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade. Developers convened in Svalbard, Norway, for an interop event where they confirmed several key developments, including setting a 200 million gas limit floor target, completing ePBS multi-client devnet testing, finalizing the EIP-8037 state access repricing proposal, and advancing preparations for the Hegotá upgrade's FOCIL and native account abstraction (AA). Additionally, the Protocol Cluster has undergone leadership changes, with Will Corcoran, Kev Wedderburn, and Fredrik appointed as new cluster leads. The current focus remains on advancing the Glamsterdam, Hegotá, and Strawmap roadmap initiatives.
