Velocity, formerly known as Drift, has launched a compensation program for users affected by the April security breach that resulted in approximately $295.4 million in losses. Claimants will receive one DFX token for every USDT lost, with the current payout rate valued at roughly 0.0104 USDT per token, representing an initial recovery of about 1% of losses.
The compensation pool currently holds approximately 3.11 million USDT, while DFX has a fixed total supply of 299.5 million tokens with no future issuance planned. The Drift Foundation stated that protocol revenue will continue to replenish the fund, and Tether has committed up to 127.5 million USDT to support the relaunch and user reimbursements.
