Kwanghee Anh, a 46-year-old Dallas resident, was sentenced to 58 months in federal prison for his role in a multi-year bank loan fraud scheme that prosecutors said generated at least $10 million in fraudulent loans and credit products. He was also ordered to pay about $8.34 million in restitution to affected financial institutions after pleading guilty on March 17 to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.
Prosecutors said that between January 2014 and March 2016, Anh and his accomplices at Preferred Marketing Group falsified financial documents including IRS W-2 forms, pay stubs and employment records. The documents were used to inflate clients’ income, fabricate employment and support loan applications containing false information, causing more than $8.3 million in losses to multiple lenders, including federally insured financial institutions.
