CoinShares has announced plans to acquire Bastion Asset Management, a London-based crypto investment firm, as part of its strategy to expand into the US market. The acquisition aims to leverage Bastion's expertise in quantitative trading to develop actively managed cryptocurrency ETFs in the US. Unlike passive ETFs, these funds will rely on fund managers' decisions to outperform the market. Bastion's team brings over 17 years of experience in creating systematic, alpha-generating strategies. The deal, pending approval from the UK Financial Conduct Authority, marks a significant step in CoinShares' US expansion plans, following its previous intention to go public via a SPAC.
