Coinbase Global has unveiled an AI-powered app store that has processed over 165 million transactions using its x402 payment protocol. The app store integrates permissionless stablecoin rails across seven service categories, including reasoning, data, media, search, social, infrastructure, and trading. The AI agents, numbering 69,000, have handled a total payment volume of $50 million, with an average transaction amount of $0.31, optimized for microtransactions.
The app store's AI agents retrieve financial data from CoinGecko, process it via OpenAI’s inference endpoint, execute trades through Bankr, and log transactions using QuickNode infrastructure, all without manual authorization. Coinbase plans to expand the app store's capabilities to handle larger transactions and more complex applications. COIN stock has increased by 18% over the past year, currently trading at $206.68 per share.
