Circuit & Chisel, a startup founded by former Stripe executives Louis Amira and David Noël-Romas, has raised $19.2 million to develop an AI-powered payment protocol named ATXP. The funding round saw participation from Primary Venture Partners, ParaFi, and Coinbase Ventures. The ATXP protocol is envisioned as a standardized communication system for AI agents, akin to "HTTP for AI agent payments," and aims to facilitate microtransactions between intelligent agents and information platforms. The protocol could revolutionize how AI agents interact with digital content by enabling them to autonomously pay small fees for accessing information, such as private LinkedIn profiles or premium articles. This development could pave the way for new revenue models for content providers, allowing them to charge micro-fees for access.
