A Chinese national, Duan Jianlei, also known as "Boss Duan," has been arrested in Thailand for allegedly operating a fraudulent cryptocurrency trading platform. Duan, who fled to Thailand two years ago, was apprehended in a luxury residence in Samut Prakan province. Authorities claim he developed the fake trading platform BHE Exchange and issued counterfeit tokens called DDO, promising a 6% annual return and a 20-fold increase over ten years before shutting down the platform and absconding with funds. The scam reportedly affected around 20,000 victims, resulting in losses of approximately 4 billion baht ($110 million). Thai authorities have revoked his visa and are proceeding with his extradition to China.
