Chile's Financial Market Commission (CMF) has revoked the license of cryptocurrency platform Plusspay after an investigation revealed its ties to the Venezuelan criminal group "Tren de Aragua." The platform was reportedly used to financially support the gang. Alongside Plusspay, other entities such as Pixeltec and Iuinvest were also disqualified for failing to comply with the Fintech Law's reporting requirements.
These companies are now barred from acquiring new clients and are restricted to operations involving the liquidation and return of frozen funds to current users. The CMF emphasized the need for payment and crypto service providers to enhance transparency to combat money laundering and illicit financial activities.
