The Yuhua District People's Procuratorate in Changsha has revealed a virtual currency fraud case involving a gang that targeted foreign men. In March 2024, Liu and Li set up a sophisticated "fraud factory" in Yuhua District, where they orchestrated scams using fake personas on social media. The group, consisting of 11 members, was convicted for their roles in the operation.
The scam involved posing as "financial elite women" to lure victims into investing in virtual currency on a fraudulent platform. Initially, victims were offered small returns to build trust, but once larger investments were made, the gang disabled withdrawal functions, defrauding victims of approximately 340,000 yuan. The operation was meticulously organized, with clear roles for each member, including technical management and data coordination.
