Chainflip was attacked on the Tron chain, with six unauthorized payments causing a loss of approximately 736,400 USDT. The cross-chain trading protocol suspended its network and expects operations to resume as early as Monday.
The attack exploited Chainflip’s reliance on Tron transaction memos to read redemption instructions. The attacker appended their own memo to transactions already signed by validators, causing the system to treat them as independent redemptions and issue refunds, resulting in the same deposit being paid out twice. Chainflip said remaining funds are safe and affected users will be compensated.
