Centrifuge has introduced the Janus Henderson Anemoy S&P 500 Fund (SPXA), marking the first licensed S&P 500 index fund on blockchain. Launched on Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network by Coinbase, the fund enables 24/7 trading of the S&P 500 with transparent holdings. FalconX participated as an anchor investor, while Wormhole will handle future blockchain expansions.
The fund is licensed by S&P Dow Jones Indices, with Janus Henderson, a global asset manager with $500 billion in assets under management, acting as the sub-investment manager. Centrifuge's Anemoy oversees the fund, with CEO Bhaji Illuminati highlighting the suitability of indices for on-chain stock exposure due to their simplicity and liquidity.
