Catena Labs, co-founded by Circle's Sean Neville, has raised $30 million in a Series A funding round led by Acrew Capital and a16z crypto. Other participants include Breyer Capital, General Catalyst, and QED. The company, which has not disclosed its valuation, develops tools for AI agents to securely execute financial transactions. Catena Labs has launched an invite-only platform allowing users to set AI transaction rules, such as spending limits and recipient specifications.
Additionally, Catena Labs is applying for a New York State Trust Bank Charter with the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to gain regulatory support for handling payments and customer funds. Previously, the company raised $18 million in a seed round led by a16z crypto in 2025.
