The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has executed the largest cryptocurrency seizure in Canadian history, confiscating over $56 million and shutting down the TradeOgre platform. This action follows an investigation initiated in June 2024 after a tip from Europol. The RCMP found that TradeOgre was not registered with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) and failed to verify its customers' identities. Authorities suspect that a significant portion of the platform's funds originated from criminal activities. Further transaction analysis is ongoing, and charges may be forthcoming.
