Bank of New York Mellon has added support for XRP and U.S. dollar stablecoin RLUSD on its digital asset custody platform, enabling eligible institutional clients to safekeep, hold, and transfer the assets. The expansion builds on BNY Mellon's existing RLUSD reserve custody and Ripple Prime custody collaboration, deepening the partnership between the two firms.
Looking ahead, BNY Mellon plans to broaden support for tokenized assets and investment products on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and work with Ripple to allow clients to mint and redeem RLUSD directly through BNY Mellon. The parties are also exploring a supply chain finance solution with working capital platform C2FO that would tokenize trade finance assets such as receivables on XRPL to expand investor access.
