Aviva Investors has launched a tokenized share class of its GBP liquidity fund on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), deploying £50 million (approximately $66 million) in initial investment. This follows the July launch of a tokenized USD liquidity fund share class, bringing Aviva's combined tokenized investments to over £86 million ($116 million). The broader fund manages approximately £22 billion in assets under management.
The new shares operate on a "digital twin" model, representing holdings on-chain while preserving the original off-chain fund structure, investment objectives, risk profile, liquidity terms, and regulatory protections. Eligible investors with digital wallets can participate, with fund assets custodied by BNY Mellon. Komainu and Licuido provide digital asset custody and tokenization infrastructure support respectively.
