Crypto exchange BitMEX will shut down on September 23, 2026, following a strategic review by its parent company, HDR Global Trading Limited. New user registrations have been halted immediately. The platform will continue normal operations until closure, but from August 26, users will only be able to reduce positions, with new positions restricted. Any remaining positions at closure will be forcibly liquidated.
KYC-verified users must withdraw assets before the shutdown to avoid an account management fee of $50 per month or 1% of the balance, whichever is higher. BitMEX warns users of potential phishing scams related to the closure and notes that withdrawal processing may face delays due to blockchain confirmation times, though all assets exceed liabilities.
