Jesse Knutson, an executive at Bitfinex, forecasts that the tokenized real-world assets (RWA) market could reach $1 trillion by 2035. This growth is driven by rapid adoption in emerging markets, where blockchain technology facilitates fractional ownership and on-chain funding. These economies are increasingly transitioning to digital systems, including stablecoin settlements. Knutson anticipates significant growth starting in 2026, particularly in the tokenization of real estate and commodities. Meanwhile, developed markets are expected to focus on tokenizing fixed-income assets. However, challenges such as smart contract enforceability, liquidity, and blockchain interoperability remain hurdles to this market's expansion.
