Binance has only partially complied with a request from South Korean police to freeze cryptocurrency assets linked to the recent Upbit hack. On November 27th, authorities requested Binance to freeze Solana tokens worth approximately 470 million Korean won that had been transferred to the exchange. However, Binance froze only 17% of the requested amount, equivalent to about 80 million Korean won, citing the need for further verification.
The freeze was completed approximately 15 hours after the initial request. When questioned about the partial freeze and delay, Binance stated it could not disclose specific details of ongoing investigations but assured continued cooperation with authorities and partners following appropriate procedures.
