Base Network has increased its gas limit to 125 million gas per second as of November 6, 2025, with plans to reach 150 Mgas/s by the end of the year. This upgrade is part of a strategic shift following the adoption of the Reth client software, which has proven more efficient than the previous op-geth client. Founder Jesse Pollak highlighted this development as a significant step towards the network's scaling objectives. Additionally, Base is considering the introduction of a native token and aims to keep transaction fees under one cent.
