Austrian authorities have solved a brutal murder case linked to cryptocurrency, involving the kidnapping and killing of 21-year-old Ukrainian Danila Kuzmin, son of the deputy mayor of Kharkiv. Kuzmin was abducted by classmates who sought access to his crypto wallet passwords. After being tortured in a car, he revealed the passwords to two wallets before being murdered and his body burned.
Two suspects were apprehended in Ukraine at the end of November. One suspect is the 19-year-old stepson of Ukraine's ambassador to Bulgaria, and the other is a former Ukrainian customs official. Police discovered large amounts of cash on the suspects and confirmed significant transactions from the victim's wallets.
