Akash Network has launched governance proposal 346 to migrate its decentralized cloud computing platform from the Cosmos sovereign chain akashnet-2 to the Solana mainnet. Voting began October 26 and runs through November 2, with current approval sitting at approximately 98.29%.
If passed and token and migration portal audits are completed within an estimated two to three weeks, AKT will launch on Solana as an SPL token in a 1:1 migration retaining its ticker symbol. The one-way migration portal will remain open for two years, while staked AKT must undergo a 21-day unstaking period before migration. The proposal sets no cutover date; market migration will require a separate switch proposal. Akash cited operating costs under load, absence of a single operator, and concentration of the DePIN ecosystem as key drivers behind choosing Solana.
