The Ethereum development community is witnessing a rapid acceleration in coding capabilities, thanks to advancements in AI technology. Recent experiments have demonstrated the potential to "vibe-code" the entire 2030 Ethereum roadmap within weeks, a task previously deemed impossible. Despite the absence of finalized Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), AI has enabled the creation of preliminary versions, albeit with expected bugs and incomplete features. AI's role in Ethereum's development is not limited to speed. It is also enhancing security by facilitating the generation of extensive test cases and enabling formal verification of code. A notable achievement includes the AI-assisted creation of a machine-verifiable proof for a complex theorem crucial to STARKs' security. This progress suggests that the Ethereum roadmap could be completed faster and with higher security standards than anticipated, moving towards the once idealistic goal of bug-free code.
