Agility Robotics released Digit 5 on September 15, introducing a new humanoid robot designed to work near people without physical safety fencing. The prior Digit 4 model had to operate inside fenced areas. Digit 5 uses AI algorithms and additional sensors to detect nearby workers, stopping or sitting down when needed to avoid collisions. Its single-carrying capacity increased from about 16 kilograms to about 23 kilograms, with 90 minutes of battery life and a 9-minute charging time. The company has deployed robots at nine customer sites, including Schaeffler, GXO Logistics and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, with more than 65,000 cumulative operating hours. Agility has about $300 million in multi-year Digit orders and plans to go public this year through a merger with SPAC Churchill Capital Corp XI at a $2.5 billion valuation.
