France's gambling regulator, the Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ), has mandated internet service providers to block access to Polymarket, classifying it as an illegal gambling site. Despite previous restrictions, Polymarket attracted over 205,000 unique visitors in France in June, with users bypassing bans using VPNs. The ANJ highlighted that the site's real-time odds display promotes unauthorized gambling services. The decision follows a complaint from Météo-France regarding a tampered temperature sensor linked to weather-based bets, leading to a cybercrime investigation by the Paris prosecutor's office. Polymarket has not yet responded to requests for comment. Violations could result in fines up to 100,000 euros ($114,380).
