Bitwise Asset Management has filed for a new cryptocurrency ETF with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, targeting 11 major altcoins but notably excluding Cardano. The filing includes assets such as Tron, Zcash, and Uniswap, among others, and aims to expand Bitwise's portfolio of crypto ETFs. This move has sparked discussions within the crypto community, particularly due to the omission of Cardano, a top 10 cryptocurrency by market cap.
The new ETF will trade on NYSE Arca, providing both direct and indirect exposure to the selected altcoins. Bitwise plans to allocate 60% of the fund's assets to the underlying coins, with the remaining 40% in other ETFs and derivatives. Despite the exclusion of Cardano, Bitwise continues to offer limited exposure to the asset through its Bitwise 10 Crypto Index ETF and a physical Cardano ETP in Europe.
