Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has criticized many Layer 2 projects for not achieving true decentralization, suggesting they are no better than centralized servers. Speaking at EthCC, Buterin highlighted that several projects claiming to be built on-chain have backdoors or fail to fully decentralize. He argued that if developers are hesitant to fully decentralize their projects, they might as well opt for centralized servers instead.
