DeFi researcher Ignas reports that tokenomics innovation is resurging following a cycle dominated by low-float, high-FDV launches. New projects are experimenting with mechanisms designed to embed intrinsic value into tokens rather than treating them solely as fundraising instruments. Examples include ZCAT’s 3% transfer tax for ZEC rewards, STONK’s fee-funded buyback and burn model, VVV/DIEM’s dual-staking system for AI credits, and BP’s equity conversion structure tied to one-year staking and growth milestones.
Despite these advancements, the analysis cautions that many new mechanisms remain dependent on sustained speculative trading activity. While projects like BUN/Mosh and ORBIO introduce novel fee-sharing and utility models, speculation continues to dominate market dynamics, suggesting that true value accrual remains an evolving challenge for the industry.
