Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission has finalized its crypto Travel Rule, requiring digital asset operators to identify both the sender and receiver in every crypto transfer starting February 27, 2027. Transfers that do not meet the new requirements will be prohibited once the rule takes effect.
Under the framework, operators must establish transfer risk policies, collect customer and counterparty identity data, transmit sender and receiver information alongside transactions, and keep records for at least five years. The rules also require operators to verify that users control funds held in self-hosted wallets. The measures are designed to curb money laundering and terrorist financing and align Thailand’s standards with FATF anti-money laundering requirements.
