Swift's blockchain-based ledger is now operational and already in use by major global financial institutions. CEO Javier Pérez-Tasso confirmed the launch at Sibos 2026, marking a significant milestone since the development was first announced at last year's conference. At least 19 banks are expected to adopt the ledger by the end of 2026, enabling 24/7 payments through tokenized deposits across five major currencies. The system facilitates round-the-clock settlement for participating institutions using blockchain infrastructure.
