Superfortune, a project incubated by Manta, has clarified that a recent security breach was due to a private key leak, not insider involvement. The company confirmed that no team members participated in the attack, and allegations of secret token sales are unfounded. The breach involved the attacker independently holding the private key and executing a transaction to a forged address, mimicking a legitimate one. The stolen funds, totaling approximately 2,784 ETH and 170,000 USDT, are traceable and currently held in three cold wallets on Ethereum.
The attacker employed sophisticated techniques, including creating spoofed addresses and using Unicode-forged token symbols to confuse tracking efforts. This method aligns with previous attacks on the project, suggesting a well-organized, industrial-scale operation rather than a random exploit. Superfortune has emphasized that the attack was not due to address poisoning but a deliberate compromise of the signer's private key.
