OpenAI said it will provide $1 billion in subsidized access to cybersecurity models over the next six months to help organizations strengthen defenses against AI-driven cyberattacks. The support will cover discounted access to Daybreak cybersecurity products, training and technical assistance, including tools tied to future models such as Astra that may identify zero-day vulnerabilities.
Priority recipients include water utilities, power providers, local governments, community banks, nonprofits and open-source maintainers. Crypto exchanges and custodians were not mentioned, but open-source blockchain software projects such as Bitcoin Core and Ethereum clients would qualify under the open-source category.
OpenAI previously disclosed that its Astra model can independently discover previously unknown software vulnerabilities and turn them into exploitable attacks without human guidance.
