The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has launched a service integrating tokenized securities into its core clearing and settlement infrastructure, bringing the $30 trillion U.S. securities market closer to blockchain adoption. The initiative embeds digital assets within existing regulated market systems rather than treating them as separate parallel markets.
Twenty institutions have signed agreements to access the service, including Bank of America, Barclays, Citi, Fidelity Investments, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Citadel Securities, State Street, and UBS. Eligible firms can convert securities into tokens during business hours with processing times targeted at 15 minutes or less. Once tokenized, assets can transfer between registered blockchain wallets around the clock under compliance restrictions.
DTCC President and CEO Frank La Salla stated the launch represents "the culmination of years of work to bring tokenized securities into a regulated framework supported by trusted market infrastructure." Citi analysts project tokenized securities will grow into a $5.5 trillion market by 2030.
