BlackRock lowered the minimum trade size for investors to exchange Bitcoin for ETF shares to $1 million from $25 million in July, Bloomberg reported. BlackRock digital assets head Robbie Mitchnick said the firm's spot Bitcoin ETF IBIT has completed more than $5 billion in such conversions, up from over $3 billion disclosed last October.
The mechanism allows investors to transfer Bitcoin into a fund that holds the same asset and receive ETF shares through authorized participants or market makers. Bloomberg said Bitwise has also reduced the minimum size for these transactions from an initial $100 million to $3 million, as market infrastructure for crypto-to-ETF migration continues to expand after U.S. regulators allowed in-kind creations last summer.
