Argentina has agreed to implement the OECD's Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF), joining 77 jurisdictions in a global initiative to automatically exchange crypto transaction data by 2029. The agreement requires sharing user identities, fiat-to-crypto transactions, digital asset payments, and external wallet transfers with international regulators while receiving reciprocal overseas transaction data.
The move targets crypto-related tax evasion and aims to establish regulatory parity between digital assets and traditional fiat transactions. Argentina must enact domestic legislation by 2028 mandating virtual asset service providers (VASPs) to report relevant transaction data to national tax authorities.
