Aptos former advisor Buzz, known online as BuzzlamicJihad, has left the project after his one-year contract expired and sold his APT tokens. Describing the departure as a "mutual decision," Buzz cited a lack of further progress and unfulfilled plans as reasons for not renewing.
APT has declined 10.7% this month, with a market cap of approximately $607 million. Buzz, whose thesis on Aptos was rooted in its ties to Facebook through the Libra project's founding developers, has now pivoted to promoting Meta using similar meme-marketing tactics. He pointed to Meta's strong fundamentals and the recent creation of non-voting Class C shares as overlooked opportunities for retail investors. Meta closed down 1.2% that day at a roughly $1.59 trillion market cap — about 2,619 times larger than Aptos.
