The XRP Ledger activated the fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment on Nov. 4 at 22:52 Beijing time, closing a vulnerability that allowed accounts with burn-only permissions to create new tokens under specific conditions. The flaw affected the network's permission delegation system, where issuers could grant token-burning rights without inadvertently enabling minting capabilities. The vulnerability impacted assets issued on the XRPL, including stablecoins, but did not affect XRP itself. No publicly confirmed cases of exploitation have been reported. The fix also addressed accounting corrections for the planned lending system and Single Asset Vaults, along with improvements to automated trading pools, permissioned transactions, and transaction signing. Activation followed an October attempt that was interrupted due to insufficient validator support before achieving consensus over two consecutive weeks.
