Solana's Firedancer team now requires researchers to permanently burn 1 SOL (approximately $100) for each vulnerability report submitted, a measure designed to curb the flood of AI-generated spam. The fee is non-refundable regardless of whether the report is valid, out of scope, or a duplicate, and submissions without the burn are ineligible for rewards. The policy follows Jump Crypto's recent $1 million audit contest, which ran from April 9 to May 9 and attracted 162 researchers submitting 809 reports. While the contest yielded 127 unique security findings, nearly half of valid submissions were duplicates, with Jump believing almost all entries involved AI agents in discovery or writing. The backlog at one point reached 299 pending reports. To offset the increased submission barrier, Jump raised bounty payouts: eligible findings now receive double the standard reward until November 20, triple for specific Alpenglow vulnerabilities, and up to $300,000 for critical findings.
